Hello and welcome to my site. I am an academic Internist with a research interest in health informatics. A little background on me. I am a board certified General Internist and was a UC Davis faculty in both the Department of Internal Medicine and the Department of Pathology for twenty years (1997-2017). As a clinician, I attended on the Internal Medicine in-patient wards and the consultation service supervising residents and medical students in the care of patients. I was a founding faculty of the UC Davis master’s program in health informatics, and taught extensively in that program and served as Chair for three years. My role in the Department of Pathology was as Vice Chair of Informatics and was responsible for all information services in the department including the laboratory information system. I also taught pathology residents a 1-month rotation in pathology informatics. Additionally, I was one of the founding faculty in the Master’s of Public Health program and taught a required introduction to public health informatics course for 15 years.
In July 2017, I joined UC San Diego as a member of the Division of Biomedical Informatics in the Department of Internal Medicine where I teach informatics in the division’s graduate program. I also serve as the UCSD Clinical Research Information Officer and Director of the Biomedical Informatics (BMI) unit in the UCSD Clinical Translational Sciences Institute (CTRI).
